I did something in 2023. I wrote a book. Actually, I did lots of things in 2023 but one I'm really excited about is the book. It's called My Roots are Showing: The Twists and Turns of Tamar's Tale. Yeah, I have a thing for alliteration.
It's the first in a series of five books discussing the women listed in the lineage of Jesus. I thought, "What a great series!" I thought, "That's something I'd like to write about." I thought, "Writing their stories from these women's perspectives will be fun!" Then, I realized the very first woman in this esteemed genealogy was none other than Ms. Tamar. And boy, does Ms. Tamar have a story.
Of course, I can't give away all of the details here because then you won't want to buy said book that I wrote in 2023, and I would really, really love it if you did. Suffice it to say, Tamar's tale is one of heartache, abuse, and trauma, and is more than just a tad scandalous.
There's no question in my mind that Tamar had to navigate her life when it looked nothing like she had ever thought it would. She may have been looking for the fairytale, happy-ever-after ending, but she ended up being intimate with some villains and taking matters into her own hands. At a time when women didn't do such things as take matters into their own hands.
I began with some knowledge of Tamar's story and knew she was controversial, to say the least. What I discovered in my studying and writing was that I think Tamar was an incredibly brave, strong woman. I for one cannot wait to share a heavenly cup of coffee with her and hear her side of the story.
So, if you're intrigued, check out My Roots are Showing: The Twists and Turns of Tamar's Tale. If you aren't intrigued, I clearly need to work on my persuasive writing.
If you do grab a copy, it would make my heart sing and my soul dance if you'd be so kind as to leave a review on Amazon. It does loads to help spread the word.
In case no one has told you yet today - You are appreciated and loved. And now you know!
