Meet Lissa

Hello! I’m simply honored you took the time to stop by to learn more about me and this vision. Here, in “The Long Version”, I’ll be sharing some of my story with you in hopes that you will understand more of my heart and the “why” behind what I love to do. My name is Reverend Lissa Litka (pronounced Melissa minus the “Me”). I am an ordained minister, published fiction author, and an international keynote speaker. I am married to a wonderful and very funny man named Harry. I am a mom to my three beautiful daughters and an “Oma” to my two marvelous grand-daughters. My husband and I live in Kokomo, Indiana where I was born and raised, with our pup, Ollie.

On any given day, you could find me reading stories, writing community-styled curriculums,  singing the tune of a broadway song, visiting with family and friends, or writing sermons!

I pastor a church in a small, rural community. This church has been in my family for almost two centuries and is where my love for Jesus, family, and singing all began. I would sing to the sound of my mother playing the piano or my grandmother playing the organ and then head over to my grandparents farm where my grandfather would instill in me my love for stories. These are a lot of the reasons I am who I am today.

Now, all of that sounds good and dandy, but my life has had its ups and downs, like most of ours have. I have a history of abuse, been diagnosed with illnesses, and have experienced loss. While that isn’t exactly an exciting or thrilling sentence, it is truth and it is my story. It is also a large part of the reason I am who I am today. The trials, the victories, the loss, the heartache, the successes, and the everyday mundane tasks…that’s what makes us who we are.

My desire is to gather communities and help people find their purpose through stories;  Christs’, the people of the Bible, personal, families, friends, and my story…I believe we all have a story and that through sharing and truly hearing each other, we find purpose and are able to live a life fuller and more abundant. This belief is what led me to begin “Stained Glass Stories”, a community created to allow people the opportunity to join together to experience God, discover their purpose, tell their story, and expand His Kingdom.

As we relate to the triumphs and failures; the joys and sorrows; the fear and uncertainty that plagued the people within the pages of the Bible, we begin to see ourselves and recognize the mind-blowing truth that God uses ordinary people dealing with issues like anxiety, stress, worth, body-image, anger, abuse, addiction to make a difference in the world and for His Kingdom. This is done through community groups, retreats, conferences, virtual venues, podcasts, videos, and material to guide you through each story.
